10 tips to make your actors resume hum!

  1. Your resume is always on one (1) sheet of paper.
  2. It must fit on the back of your 10x 8 headshot. (Seen this video about headshots?)
  3. Staple your resume to the back of your headshot. Make it look clean with a lot of white space. It must be easy to read.
  4. Never be afraid of an empty resume - we all start somewhere, and it's completely understood we all do that, so remove that worry, ok? It means you are new and unfound, that is an A Plus. You are HOT!
  5. Keep everything Tabbed and Aligned - this means it's easy to SEE...quickly. Think of it as a one page snapshot of who you are, what you've done and where you've worked and with who.
  6. Never over do your credits to make yourself look better (New actors especially, pay attention here- be  truthful - you know what i mean, right? It's obvious what ur doing.
  7. Keep your resume up to date and relevant - do  not refer to shows u did 15 yrs ago - no plays u did at school - I have seen this! Be professional. Professional means real = white space is fine. 1 or 2 credits is cool....
  8. The K.I.S.S. Rule - Keep It Simple Stoopid - you can work that out right? Brevity is the soul of wit! That Shakespeare guy huh...:-)
  9. Resumes need to be helpful, informative and useful - to casting people not be about your ego.
  10. Everyone in this business talks to each other. So when u list something that is NOT true - you WILL be found out, now I know YOU wouldn't do that but...

Ok so extra tip...Always do this...helps steady the nerves...

  • Check over what you've done BEFORE you go in to an audition - this will mean your mind will be clear, clean and freshly tuned!
